Karen Oliver, Senior Vice President
Karen Oliver specializes in leading public education and awareness and marketing campaigns and has extensive experience developing integrated communications programs to drive behavior change. She has overseen strategic communications planning, project development, event planning, stakeholder engagement, media relations and issues management for a wide range of clients, including the Internal Revenue Service, Public Broadcasting Service, the Council for Responsible Nutrition, the Pfizer Foundation, United Way of America and Visa USA. In November 2011, PR News named Karen the “Public Affairs Professional of the Year.”
Before joining Powell Tate in 2012, Karen worked at Porter Novelli where she led the account team working on public education and outreach for the Internal Revenue Service. Karen focused on helping IRS become a trusted resource by providing taxpayers with easy-to-find, easy-to-understand, and easy-to-obtain taxpayer services. Karen began her career as a lobbyist for the Beer Drinkers of America, where she was responsible for tracking legislative issues and developing strategies to support the organization’s goals.
