Powell Tate is coordinating a multi-year image and reputation campaign for Mexico City, D.F. As one of the world’s largest cities, we are showcasing Mexico City as a global business center for inward investment and an attractive cultural destination for upscale business and leisure travelers. Our work includes travel marketing, media relations, advertising, digital communications and outreach to business, NGOs and cultural organizations.
Our media relations campaign has produced numerous cover stories and high-profile articles and features about Mexico City in leading business media, travel and lifestyle press in the United States, Canada, UK and China. More than 40 North American-based travel writers have visited the destination and experienced its attractions, hotels, restaurants and cultural life. The marketing program includes a dynamic online campaign through an English-language website, www.mexicocityexperience.com, and social media tools such as a Facebook site, YouTube videos, and Twitter feeds.
The campaign’s focus is also on promoting Mexico City’s transition to a knowledge economy, its attractiveness to international business investment, and its leadership in global environmental stewardship. We helped promote the World Mayors Summit on Climate, which brought together 150 cities from around the world to Mexico City in November 2010 to sign The Mexico City Pact, a cooperative agreement on climate. We also coordinated Mexico City’s participation in the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
We have organized official visits for Mayor Marcelo Ebrard and other city leaders to New York, Washington, Boston, Chicago, Toronto, London, Copenhagen, Davos, Bonn and Shanghai. Print and online advertising has appeared in The Financial Times, The New York Times, The Economist and Bloomberg BusinessWeek.
