Rocky Mountain Institute asked Weber Shandwick to be the institute's communications partner for the roll-out of Reinventing Fire, a campaign that included a book by RMI and its co-founder and Chief Scientist Amory Lovins. Reinventing Fire's ambitious blueprint focuses on business and market-driven change to move the United States from a fossil-fuel-driven economy to one based primarily on efficiency and renewable energy sources by 2050.
Our team produced introductory materials, built partnerships with a wide variety of organizations, developed an infographic and video outlining the campaign's goals and strategies, and scheduled opportunities for thought leadership and executive visibility not only for Mr. Lovins, but also for other sector-specific experts. We built media buzz around the release of Reinventing Fire, including coverage in Fast Company, Los Angeles Times and The Huffington Post, with broadcast interviews on Fox News, Bloomberg and NPR's Science Friday. Our work for RMI culminated with support for an event co-sponsored by RMI and National Geographic, featuring a presentation by Lovins and a panel discussion with experts from a variety of business sectors in energy, transportation, industry and buildings.
